A bright, triumphant scale containing two sharps (F# and C#, shown here as Gb and Db). Very common in folk, classical, and pop music.
D Major is widely regarded as a highly resonant, bright, and cheerful key. On the harmonium, it requires transitioning between white and black keys (Gb/F# and Db/C#), making it an excellent step up from C Major to practice hand positioning.
Follows the standard Major scale step pattern (Tone - Tone - Semitone - Tone - Tone - Tone - Semitone) starting on D.
