Playing fast compositions (Taans) requires excellent finger independence and speed. These targeted exercises will stretch your hands and improve your coordination on the keyboard.
Exercise 1: The Step-Skip Run
Ascending: Sa-Re-Sa-Ga, Re-Ga-Re-Ma, Ga-Ma-Ga-Pa, Ma-Pa-Ma-Dha, Pa-Dha-Pa-Ni, Dha-Ni-Dha-Sa(High)
Exercise 2: Double Backtrack
Ascending: Sa-Re-Ga-Re, Re-Ga-Ma-Ga, Ga-Ma-Pa-Ma, Ma-Pa-Dha-Pa, Pa-Dha-Ni-Dha
Training Tips
Keep your fingers close to the keys. Lifting fingers too high wastes time and energy, slowing down your runs. Practice with a metronome daily.
